  • Bio: Giuseppe Placidi received the master in Computer Science in 1991 at the University of L’Aquila. During the University course, he received a student fellowship in computational mathematics (September 1990) from the Italian National Research Council (C.N.R.). In 1996 he received the Ph.D. degree in Medical Imaging at the University of L’Aquila. From 1996 to 1997 he was research contractor at National Institute for Physics of Matter (I.N.F.M.) and from 1998 to 1999 he was post-doc at the Department of Electrical Engineering of the University of L’Aquila. From 1999 he was Research Associate, Assistant Professor, and, from 2017, Associate Professor of Computer Science at the Department of Life, Health & Environmental Sciences of the University of L’Aquila. He holds the national scientific qualification in Computer Science as Full Professor.
    His research areas include Medical tomography (signal coding, sparse sampling, reconstruction, superresolution, compression), Computer vision, Artificial intelligence, Information theory. He authored more than 200 international publications, 1 book, 9 Patents. He is Associate Editor for the following Journals: Image and Vision Computing (Ed. Elsevier), Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering: Imaging & Visualization (Ed. Taylor & Francis), Frontiers in Computational Neuroscience (Ed. Frontiers).
