  • Bio:

Dr Alba García Seco de Herrera is a Lecturer at the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering (CSEE) since September 2017. She is a mathematician and enjoys applying mathematics and computational tools to develop the Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools that model the complex realities stored in the vast datasets available today. Her research interest lies broadly in the area of AI in computer vision with a special focus on biomedical imaging, neuroimaging, information retrieval and evaluation. She also cast the problem of Multimodal AI, in which various data types (image, text, speech, numerical data) are combined with multiple intelligence processing algorithms to achieve higher performances. Multimodal AI often outperforms single modal AI in many real-world problems. She has published widely in the field with more than 60 papers in peer review journals, conferences and books. According to Google Scholar she has presently an h-index of 21 and an i10-index of 33.

She has achieved several notable recognitions like Early Career Researcher Award for the University of Essex (UK), National Library of Medicine Honour Awards (USA), best paper awards at ICCVIP (Czechia), SPIE Medical Imaging (USA) and CoNy conferences (Czechia). She is a member of the Editorial Board of Scientific Data, a data-focused journal from the publishers of Nature. She has also served as program committee chair (CBMS), and technical program member (HSDM, SDS, VISAPP, ECTI-CON, ACM MMSys, DMIP, rtip2r, ICBSIP, LABELS), publicity chair (rtip2r) and session chair for of a variety of Artificial Intelligence related international conferences.
